    Bump maps and antialiasing...

This weekend I'm testing my track with low graphics settings and some new textures upgrades...but I'm "shocked" by the very low quality of bumps maps rendering. I've a lot of moire patterns everywhere, especially on buildings with corrugated surfaces.

The only way to manage this issue is running at AA8x/SSAA...:/

I've tried lowering sharpening on normal maps or using positive values on MIP Bias...but nothing changes. The track on low settings looks far better without bumps maps on vertical surfaces...

These are the Mip Bias values I tend to use for most TSOs now:

    • Diffuse Map: -1.0
    • Specular Map: -0.5
    • Normal Map: -0.5

That's about all I can say right now ...

Thanks Luc. I will try these settings...

Could be interesting to know what settings are you using on normal filter exporter.

Rather default values really, and I tweak them according to my needs. I usually soften the normal map effect with a zero layer (128,128,255) where I need.

    Tnx.

BTW, I've tried your MipBias values without improvements. For now I can manage the track with settings maxed out..but I hope to see one fix on AA compartment for a better MSAA/AMSAA.
