    Build 60 TrackiR?

    Gents,

No mention in new build release notes of Trackir support being added, anyone knows if it works?

    Cheers

Well... I haven't exactly tested it... I don't use ir tracker for racing sims/games. I only use it for flying.

That being said, with every other racing game or sim I run that does support irTracker turns on the camera automatically and rF2 don't do that.

    Hope this helps,

    Bryan

    Not yet supported.
I have had some success using TrackIR's mouse emulation and rF2's free-move, but it is not very smooth.
I know TrackIR will be supported in the future, but the sooner the better.

true, sooner the better, i had to reformat my PC, have not installed rf2 yet, might not bother till Trackir support is added

Well I used TIR in 'LFS' and found it was a bit disorientating and went back to racing without it. Like Bryan, I use mine for Flightsim only.

I cant imagine any more driving, or flying sims without it, it completely changes the immersion for me

Kristoff, your post is irrelevant in this topic. FreeTrack will also not work in rF2. In rF1 FT uses TrackIR api. None of FT support exist in rf1 nor rF2.

But if you want to start arguing what solution is better - start new thread, plz.

I used freetrack in rF1 and I haven't tried in rF2... I'm sure they will have support for it as they have in the past. sorry for pointing out that people that bought Tracker IR got scammed. I mean good on them for the code, but outrageous price for a webcam and some lights.

As I said: rf1 supports FreeTrack just because it uses TrackIR api provided by rF1.
And as you said: there will be support for FT. Probably. Because as I know there are 2 APIs of TrackIR. Only one of them is open and may be used by FreeTrack. Of course maybe ISI will add native FreeTrack plugin.. who knows

I'm all for the free stuff too, since the budget for recreational accessories has basically been cut for a while in our household. But I too, await the TrackIR support for the freeware software I use. I'd much rather use the TrackIR compatability than the PPJoy option anyday. But it does work in rF2 with the full 6 degrees of freedom, so I'm happy for now.

Just an update: next build (whenever that arrives) will have TrackIR support back in.

Great news Terence :-). TrackIr is actually great for sim racing. The key to success is to set low linear settings for all six axis without dead zones. Try (when we get support for it), a lower setting for roll, a little bit faster for yaw and again low numbers for pitch, x, y & z. When you've tweaked it to your liking there is no way back...

Oh yes, I cant wait. I only played rF1 with TrackIR it gives a much better sence of your environment. I drive with 24 FOV and TrackIR really helps with glancing down at speedo and revs then also checking for cars to the side. Its also great at the start. Mix a bit of steer look ahead also gives a better feel to trackir especially when you look away and look back.
